I needed to get away for a while. Clear my head. It didn’t cost much to be honest, but it was grand. I have never seen anything like it.
The commute from Manila to Lucena was not easy. It was an uncomfortable five hour bus ride in moderate to heavy traffic. After arriving at Lucena, I had to take another bus to a small, and sleepy municipality called Padre Burgos. I checked in at the Tamarind Tree (no wifi, no cable, but the food was good). I unpacked. My room was a mess, my clothes were all over the bed, toiletries strewn all over the floor, and my head was heavy with worry.
And I felt like I was unraveling. Amid this sea, amid this beauty, my mind would not ease to its surroundings. It would not relent. I had to distract myself somehow. And I did. It didn’t take long for the water to wash away my worries and my issues. It felt like a baptism. I felt like I was eighteen again.
How to get there:
From the Buendia Bus Terminal, take a bus bound to Lucena Grand Terminal. After arriving at Lucena Grand Terminal, take a bus (or a jeepney, whichever’s convenient) to Unisan. Tell the driver to drop you off at Padre Burgos. From there you can rent about to Borawan Island.
